My 18th Birthday Celebration

NOTE: This is going to be a longer post so enjoy! 😉

Hi guys!!

I’m super excited to be writing this post because it feels like I’m relieving the day again! It was honestly the most fun I’ve had in such a long time and even though it left me broke (haha), I wouldn’t take any of it back! I spent so many days planning and stressing over the minor details of how my day would go and now that I look back, it’s a bit ridiculous to think of how many hours I would spend crying over things that didn’t go the way I wanted them to go.

Getting back on track, let’s start off with my invitation card.

I did it online instead of sending out printed cards because helloo it’s 2016 first of all and also because I didn’t have the time or energy to go see everyone in person and announce my party.

I added a place for acceptable gifts because let’s face it, I didn’t want people to come without giving me gifts. My mom was like “Take it off because it’s their presence that counts” and I was like “No, you mean it’s their presents that count” 😉 (All jokes aside, it really was their presence that counted). 4ac0dc_a4eff2196330410da7ad0db72eb52460Next, I had to choose a color theme because I’m kind of a perfectionist and I like to know exactly how everything’s going to look so I picked purple, lime green and white. That means basically everything including my plates, cups, cutleries, balloons, decorations, etc. were limited to those colors. Even my cupcakes and cake pops were part of my theme! Haha it came out sooo beautifully and I’m really glad I chose them!

I also decided to have a photo booth because they’re so much fun and I’m the kind of person that loves to create memories by taking pictures. I used a plain white background (my mom’s bed sheet lol) and decorated it with balloons at the top corners and a garland of tassels which I made myself, with the help of my family friends Makia and Halimah. Note: I took the picture of the photo booth with my phone so the lighting wasn’t the best, my bad

I talked to a photographer that I came across on Instagram. His name is Tseyi and he did such an amazing job, I was in awe after I saw how all the pictures turned out. He stayed for the duration of my party and took the stress of remembering to take pictures amidst all the fun off my shoulders! Thank you Tseyi for the beautiful pictures!

I did a lot of things last minute even though I said I wouldn’t procrastinate at all. I did my decorations the night before, did my nails the morning before and got my dresses only 2 days before. I already gave up on finding a dress by the way but my mom said I had no choice but to go find a dress. At least I got my hair done and bought my shoes about 8 days before. 🙂

Moving on, my day started at about 9am which was when I got my makeup done by the lovely Deana. It was the third time she did my makeup and I can honestly say that she’s one of the nicest and personable people I’ve ever met and there’s no awkwardness at all while she does your makeup. Thank you for making me look glamorous, Deana!

After that, Trevor and I had a little photo shoot at the park by my house because he wasn’t going to be at my party and I wanted pictures with him regardless. Although it was really rushed because I was already behind schedule at the time, they came out so nice!

The party was from 1-5pm and it was a lot of fun! We played games, had some contests with giveaways, ate way too much food and took lots and lots of pictures.

After the party ended, I had a limo come at 6pm to take myself and 5 other people (Trevor and his brother, Tim, Serena, Makia and Halimah) out for dinner which was at 7pm at a buffet on Regent Avenue. That might have been my favourite part of the day simply because the food was amazing and the company was even better!

We all came back home afterwards to watch a movie and eat my oreo blizzard cake! Yum! I got 2 different cakes because ice cream cake is my favorite but I knew that some people would rather eat “normal cake” instead. It was also because I wanted the ice cream cake to last longer 😉

All in all, my day was a success and I’m so thankful to God to be able to spend another year on this beautiful earth that He created and I pray I spend many more years. 🙂

Thank you to my Mom for making all this possible in the first place. As well as to Makia, Serena and Halimah for listening to me talk about my plans constantly without getting fed up haha.

Thank you to my boyfriend, Trevor, for keeping me sane and grounded when I was stressing over trivial things, for driving me to literally everywhere in preparation for the day, including waiting by himself in a nail salon for about 2 hours while I did my nails. You are the real MVP!

I also want to say a big thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with me, to everyone that gave me gifts (I got A LOT of awesome things) and as well as to the people who wished me happy birthday on both social media and in person, I appreciate all of you!Life with Precious
